PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of treating fiber reinforced plastic waste capable of preventing the damage of reinforcing fibers or the generation of staple fibers, capable of destructing only a matrix, capable of efficiently separating reinforcing fibers and the matrix to recover the reinforcing fibers and effective for reutilizing the reinforcing fiber in the production of an FRP product, and a method for reutilizing the reinforcing fibers recovered by the method, in the recycling of the fiber reinforced plastic waste.;SOLUTION: The fiber reinforced plastic waste is immersed in hot water and subsequently heated and pressed at a high temperature under high pressure by steam. Thereafter, pressure in instantaneously released to subject the fiber reinforced plastic waste to steam explosive crushing treatment to separate the reinforcing fibers and the matrix to recover at least the reinforcing fibers and the recovered reinforcing fibers are reutilized as the reinforcing material of fiber reinforced plastic.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2002,JPO
