PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for raising of seedling of sweet potato by small sections of root tuber, with which sweet potato to be effectively increased, to be excellently grown and to have improved yield and quality of sweet potato to be harvested is provided and a seedling is can be applied to transplantation using a machine. SOLUTION: This method for producing the seedling of sweet potato comprises (a) a process for immersing a sweet potato in a round sweet potato as it is in water at a temperature suitable for growth of sweet potato, (b) a process for peeling the sweet potato and dividing into sections, (c) a process for washing the sections with water immediately after the process (b), (d) a process for curing the sections, (e) a process for arranging the sections on a medium, culturing the sections under conditions not to dry the sections at 28 deg.C to 32 deg.C so as to form adventitious buds and (f) a process for culturing the sections having formed the adventitious buds in a container filled with a medium under conditions not to dry the sections at a temperature suitable for the growth of sweet potato so as to grow the seedlings of sweet potato.
