PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method to obtain a ceramic formed body which is incombustible and has practical mechanical strength and dimensional stability under a low temperature aging condition in a short time when the body is aged by a hydrothermal process, and to provide a method to obtain an incombustible ceramic formed body only by aging under normal pressure in a water vapor atmosphere.;SOLUTION: A mixture source material containing a siliceous source material, calcareous source material, reinforcing fiber, water and calcium salt of a lower carboxylic acid, preferably containing the calcium salt of the lower carboxylic acid by 0.5 to 5.0 pts.wt. in terms of solid content to 100 pts.wt. of the mixture of siliceous source material and calcareous source material in terms of solid content, is subjected to dehydration forming, extrusion forming or flow forming to obtain a source material formed body, and then subjected to each process of aging and drying to obtain the ceramic formed body. The formed body is aged under hydrothermal conditions at ≤110°C for ≤2 hours or under aging conditions at ≤100°C in a water vapor atmosphere for ≤4 hours and then dried. Or, the body is preliminarily dried at 30 to 60°C for 2 to 3 hours to obtain a half hardened body and then aged under the above conditions.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2002,JPO
