PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a roll for dull finishing excellent in durability and a method for working its surface and in particular to provide a manufacturing method for a dull finished stainless steel sheet using the roll. ;SOLUTION: In the finishing roll, the surface of the barrel part of the roll whose center line mean roughness Ra is ≥0.5μm and has a textured pattern whose average inclined angle β shown by an undermentioned equation is ≥6° and has a Cr-plating layer on the surface. Alumina particles whose average particle diameter is 0.1-0.7 are projected on the surface of this roll and next, the surface working of the roll is executed by plating. Equation: β=Σ(tan-1(ΔY /ΔX))/N. Where, ΔY is the difference of height in projecting part between two points in the roughness measuring direction (μm), ΔX is the distance between two points in the roughness measuring direction and N is 6250 (the number of measurement of ΔY for the measuring length of 12.5mm).;COPYRIGHT: (C)1998,JPO
