PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and system for automatically tracing an authentication pedigree of digital authentication in PKI, for making it possible to judge the reliability of digital authentication.;SOLUTION: A new user 132 receives a hardware token 130 storing a specific pedigree certificate. The pedigree certificate has a trust level given relating to the token. Only a user having such a token can have access to a registered web page 350, and when the registered web page 350 is accessed, a personal signature certificate having the same trust level as that of the pedigree certificate is provided to the new user 132. The information inputted by the user to the registered web page 350 is stored in a directory 108 together with the certificate containing the trust level.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2002,JPO
