PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a prophylactic/ameliorative/therapeutic agent for hypertension, exhibiting a hypotensive action, controlling a rise in blood pressure, ameliorating hypertension, also useful as a food and beverage, a food for a specific health care and a quasi medicine.;SOLUTION: This prophylactic/ameliorative/therapeutic agent for hypertension comprises (a) a compound selected from the group of coffeic acid, chlorogenic acid, ferulic acid, their esters and pharmacologically acceptable salts and (b) an extract of perennial evergreen leaf of the genus camellia of the family Theaceae or Eucommia ulmoides Oliver of the family Eucommiae.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2002,JPO
