METHOD FOR COLOR QUANTIZATION BASED ON HMMD COLOR SPACE AND MULTIMEDIA

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for quantization in which retrieving performance in an HMMD color space usable at various quantization levels is enhanced. SOLUTION: In a retrieving system using color information in an HMMD color space, a color space is primary divided using one or more designated diff value with the difference (diff) as an axis. The lowest diff region among the divided regions of the color space is a gray region having no relation with hue and it is divided by N (N is a natural number) with reference to only the sum. For other diff regions, it is divided equally by a number given for each region with reference to the sum axis and divided equally by a number given for each region with reference to the hue axis.
