PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rack rail traveling carriage capable of safely and surely preventing touching of a foreign matter in a rack rail and a driving gear.;SOLUTION: A pressing means 14 inside of an automatic slide tightener 12 presses a foreign matter detecting gear 11 to the rack rail 5 in a travel unhindering degree by adjustable pressing force. When there is the foreign matter in the rack rail, the foreign matter detecting gear is moved in the X direction, the shaft 11a touches a limit switch 13 on the inside of the automatic slide tightener, a signal transmitted by the limit switch is sent to a control means 15, a stopping signal is sent to a motor for driving the driving gear from the control means, and the carriage is stopped before the driving gear touches the foreign matter W.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2002,JPO
