PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an in-storage system for an automated storage and retrieval warehouse installation suitable for putting a predetermined number of cargoes of the same type in and out of storage in a lump.;SOLUTION: In the automated storage and retrieval warehouse installation where warehouse installation units 1A-1N consisting of in-storage/out-of-storage travel cranes 5 having a plurality of cargo transfer means 8a-8d provided on elevatable carriages 7 and shelves 4 are connected to one in-storage line 2 via respective in-storage buffer conveyors 3A-3N, cargoes delivered to the in- storage line 2 are sorted to the in-storage buffer conveyor which is assigned to the sorting destination of cargoes of the same type as that of the cargoes and is not transferred yet to the side of the in-storage/out-of-storage travel crane 5. In each of the automated storage and retrieval warehouse units, when the same number of the cargoes of the same type as the parallel number of the cargo transfer means are gathered on the in-storage buffer conveyor, the plurality of cargoes are transferred from the in-storage buffer conveyor onto the elevatable carriage in a lump and put in storage by the in-storage/out-of- storage travel crane.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2002,JPO
