PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a moving handrail cleaning device of a passenger conveyor having a simple and reliably intermittent operating method to reduce deterioration of the quality of the handrail belt front surface and mechanical and electrical attrition of a detecting mechanism itself, in a detecting means for the moving direction and the moving speed of a handrail. ;SOLUTION: In a moving handrail cleaning device, two one-way rotational clutches 22, 30 are incorporated in a shaft of a bandshaped cleaning tool renewing winding motor 21 so that respective power transmitting directions may be opposite to each other. Since one motor is shared by taking the one-way rotational clutch 22 for renewing and winding a band-shaped cleaning tool on the normal rotation side and the one-way rotational clutch 30 on the reverse rotation side as driving sources for the vertical operation of a moving direction and moving speed detecting machine 33 of a moving handrail, and also since reverse rotation stopping force of the one-way rotational clutches 22, 30 is used for braking, an inexpensive device can be formed with a simple structure.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1998,JPO
