PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide the power management of an automobile multimedia system and a personal-computer based system which is efficient and powerful and detects the state of a fault without any user's intervention to make a recovery to a proper operation state. SOLUTION: The multimedia/personal-computer based system for placing information, communication, and entertainment devices in operation in an automobile uses electric power management measures which reduce the power consumption and shorten the startup time by a system facilitating the use of a complicated instruction set computation(CISC) processor system. The electric power management fault measures detect the fault state and make a recovery to the proper operation state without any user's intervention. A low-electric- power microprocessor which is not built in a main motherboard switches a plurality of adjusting voltages for the main motherboard and other devices. A main application microprocessor on the main motherboard sends a cyclic state message to a low-electric-power microprocessor.
