PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To lower the production costs and shorten the development time by making sections of printed matters with a method which keeps the sections thereof smooth while allowing maintaining of a natural state to clarify the distribution or seepage of ink.;SOLUTION: There are arranged an analysis process (process B) in which the printed matters are cut using a focused ion beam device (process A) and then the sections of the printed matters are analyzed from images with a scanning electron microscope(SEM), an analysis process (process B') for analyzing the sections of the printed matters from enlarged images with the scanning electron microscope(SEM), an analysis process (process C) for analyzing the sectional surfaces of the printed matters from images with an optical microscope, and an analysis process (process D1 and /or D2) of the sections of the printed matters depending on a low and/or a high level with a wavelength dispersible X-ray analyzer (EPMA). Some of the analysis processes are combined in plurality to enable the clarification of the distribution or the seepage of the ink. In the first method, and images obtained by the analysis process (process B) of the sections of the printed matters are laid on dense images of the ink in the images obtained by the analysis process (process C), thereby enabling the clarification of the distribution of the seeped ink.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2002,JPO
