PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a colored scale which enables a beginner who learns music to easily understand intervals of respective scales and which gives no feeling of physical disorder even to a skilled person.;SOLUTION: For a method for recognizing a scale, differences in the wavelength (frequency) of a visible light beam which cause the visual sensation of a human to recognize a color are used and the scales and colors are made to correspond to each other according to a constant frequency-like rule. For example, a hue ring of the Munsell coloration system is used to make red correspond to a scale of 'do', orange to a scale of 'do#' or 're flat', yellow to a scale of 're', greenish yellow to a scale of 're#' or 'mi flat', yellowish green to a scale of 'mi', green to a scale of 'fa', verdure to a scale of 'fa#' or 'sol flat', blue to a scale of 'so', ultramarine to a scale of 'sol#' or 'la flat', purple to a scale of 'la', heliotrope to a scale of 'la#' or 'ti flat', and vermilion to a scale of 'ti'.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2002,JPO
