PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for controlling temperature of fire grate and a fire grate waste incinerator, by which the service lives of fire grates can be extended as a whole by suppressing the corrosion of and thermal damages to the fire grates caused by dew condensation, and at the same time, combustion stabilization can be contrived by promoting the pyrolysis of wastes on the grates by controlling the temperature of the grates even when a wide variety of municipal refuse is incinerated.;SOLUTION: In the method for controlling the temperature of the fire grates of a waste incinerator having the fire grates and in the fire grate waste incinerator, the temperatures of the fire grates are controlled, so that the surface temperature of the fire grate group positioned on the upstream side in the waste carrying direction becomes higher than that of the fire grate group positioned on the downstream side.
