PURPOSE: To simulate the oscillation and out-of-step phenomenon of a generator without hardly degrading the real time performance of simulation by simulating a power system by using transient stability calculations only for several periods after the occurrence of a fault and by simulating through the use of frequency calculations and power flow output calculations during ordinary times. ;CONSTITUTION: A calculation switching processing section 12 performs power flow calculations and frequency calculations at ordinary times and, within several time periods from the start of fault occurrence simulation, the calculating method is switched to perform transient stability calculations. A frequency calculating section 9 calculates system frequency, generator output and load value by frequency calculations. A power flow calculating section 10 calculates transmission power flow and bus voltage, and a transient stability calculation section 13 calculates the status quantity and node voltage of a generator (not shown). A transient stability calculation and postprocessing section 15 calculates the system frequency, generator output, load value, transmission line power flow an bus voltage based on the transient stability calculation results and simulates the response of out-of-step separation relay.
