PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To discriminate fault section of a cable by determining whether a fault current flows through a metal shield layer without requiring a larger system and moreover, using a simple structure. SOLUTION: When a ground fault occurs at a point X1 of a cable line, only the latching relays of cable fault current discriminating apparatuses H1 and H2 mounted on cross bond lines 3R1 and 3R2 in first and second insulated connection boxes 2R1 and 2R2 work and latching relays of other cable fault current discriminating apparatuses H3-H10 fail to work. Then, a worker conducts visual inspection along the cable line, and when the worker confirms that the latching relays alone of the cable fault current discriminating apparatuses H1 and H2 mounted on the cross bond lines 3R1 and 3R2 of the first and second insulated connection boxes 2R1 and 2R2, it can be determined that a fault has been generated within a section B of the cable line.
