PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a synthetic aperture radar apparatus by which a target scattering point can be detected without limiting in band a received signal observed at the change amount of the carrier frequency of pulses. SOLUTION: The synthetic aperture radar apparatus is provided with a correlation-matrix calculation means which calculates the correlation matrix of frequency data, a moving-average calculation means which constitutes minor matrixes from a part of the correlation matrix and which calculates an average correlation matrix on the basis of the moving average of the minor matrixes, an eigenvalue analytical means which analyzes the eigenvalue of the average correlation matrix so as to fine a minimum eigenvalue, a likelihood calculation means which calculates a likelihood with reference to a combination of ranges of the target scattering point, a range estimation means which detects the minimum calculated value of the likelihood and which estimates the range of the target scattering point and a superresolution processing means composed of a reflection-strength estimation means which estimates the reflection strength of the target scattering point by using the estimated value of the range.
