PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an improved method or the post-treatment of a reaction mixture containing 5-amino-2-chloro-thiazole and obtained by the reaction of 5-chloromethyl-2-chloro-thiazole with ammonia.;SOLUTION: The post-treatment is carried out by (1) optionally separating the excess ammonia from the reaction mixture, (2) mixing the reaction mixture with a certain amount of water and a certain amount of an inorganic acid HX to precipitate at least 85% of the total amount of the produced bis-(2-chloro- thiazolyl-5-methyl)-amine salt and leave at least 85% of the total amount of the produced 5-aminomethyl-2-chloro-thiazole salt in the solution and (3) separating the precipitated bis-(2-chloro-thiazolyl-5-methyl)-amine salt.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2002,JPO
