PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent such a failure that undesired focus detection point and range finding point are selected and focusing is performed inappropriately.;SOLUTION: The camera is provided with a selecting means selecting a focus detection point out of plural focus detection points, based on visual line information by a visual line detecting means, an automatic focusing means performing focusing drive of an image forming lens, based on the focusing information calculated based on the information detected at the focus detection point selected by the selecting means, and operation control means (#113 to #121) for changing the algorithm required before an automatic focusing operation is performed, after the visual line detecting operation, so that the algorithm in the case the prescribed focus detection point is selected by the selecting means is different from that in the case the focus detection point other than the prescribed focus detecting point is detected.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2002,JPO
