PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To determine whether a capacity limit is exceeded or not without degrading traffic, when an electronic mail provided with an attached file of a large data size is delivered.;SOLUTION: Before actual transmission of an electronic mail provided with an attached file, a transmitting side terminal 11 transmits a pilot mail of a dummy file format for deliverability determination that has an item of the data size of the total electronic mail including the attached file and carries no attached file. Each of relay serves 21 to 23 and a delivery destination terminal 15 returns the pilot mail to which information on a capacity limit is attached to the delivery side terminal 11. Even without the attachment of the attached file, the delivery side terminal can easily determine whether the data size including the attached file is transmittable or not.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2002,JPO
