PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a data insertion circuit that can set a data insertion strength that can sufficiently be detected without the need for using a detector.;SOLUTION: An adder 104 conducts data insertion and a VLC 105 applies variable length coding to the data. A counter 108 counts number of times of of the data selected by a selector 106, and a comparator 109 calculates a data insertion rate depending on the count of the counter 108 and all data numbers measured by a counter 107. A multiplier of a multiplication unit 103 is changed so as to obtain a data insertion strength that can sufficiently be detected on the basis of the data insertion rate.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2001,JPO
