PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for obtaining crystal grains of 1 μm or less so far required to obtain because further improvement in mechanical properties can be expected if crystal grains finer than about 1 μm can be obtained in a metallic material, although, in the conventional titanium alloy having two phases of α+β, the crystal grain size obtained by the conventional manufacturing method is about ≤1 μm.;SOLUTION: The titanium alloy having two phases of α+β is allowed to occlude hydrogen and is then heat treated, worked and subjected to dehydrogenation treatment. By this method, the ultrafine grains having ≤1 μm β-phase crystal grain in an α-matrix can be obtained.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2002,JPO
