PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a life and death monitoring method for a host computer in which the number of life and death monitoring packets existing on a network is made to be minimum and the load on the network is reduced and which is connected to the network.;SOLUTION: In the method, the life and death monitoring packet having the group of an address and a check flag is sequentially transferred among a plurality of host computers to be managed.
