PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To successively and automatically conduct layout blocking and edge rubbing of three kinds of lenses, namely a single focus lens, a progressive multifocal lens, and a multifocal lens.;SOLUTION: The prism amount and the like at a position A0 on an optical surface of an unprocessed lens is measured, and an optical center calculating position A1 is obtained by calculation. When the distance between the positions A0 and A1 is not more than a specified value, the position A0 is temporarily determined as a blocking position, and the position A1 is determined as an optical center. When the distance exceeds the specified value, the prism amount and the like at the position A1 is measured, and an optical center calculating position A2 is obtained from a calculating expression in the same way as above by using the measured value. Then, by repeating the same steps, an optical center is determined and a blocking position is temporarily determined. It is checked whether machining interference occurs at the temporarily determined blocking position or not. If the machining interference occurs, blocking is conducted by selecting a position without the machining interference from the above-mentioned obtained positions.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2002,JPO
