PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and a device for analyzing syntax which enables reduction in the preparation costs of rewrite rules and shortening of processing time for syntax analysis by introducing the simple expression of rewrite rule, and a storage medium with a syntax analysis program store therein. SOLUTION: As a rewrite rule being a rule for non-terminal symbol of a phrase and a part of speech expressing the phrase and the part of speech, a rule is employed that the non-terminal symbol as well as various grammatical characteristics and grammatical characteristic values are attached to the non- terminal symbol as conditions and further a function using a variable expressing the character value as an argument is attached to entire rule, and in single processing concerning the grammatical character value, processing of the function such as checking consistency in the combination of the values of arguments or setting the value of other argument on the basis of the value of a certain argument is performed.
