PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for removing a solvent by a twin-screw dewatering extruder which improves solvent removing efficiency in a process for removing a solvent from plastic and synthetic rubber and the twin-screw dewatering extruder. SOLUTION: In the method for removing the solvent in which a raw material is transferred by using a pair of screw shafts 6 set in a cylinder 1, the solvent is squeezed out from the raw material by seal ring parts 7 fitted to the screw shafts 6, the separated solvent is discharged through the dewatering slits 2 of dewatering cylinders C2, C4 installed upstream from the seal ring parts 7, the solvent is transferred to the dewatering slits 2 through a groove 5 formed in the inner surface 1a of the cylinder 1 ranging from the dewatering cylinders C2, C4 to a position corresponding to the upstream side of the seal rings 8 of the seal ring parts 7 and extracted.
