ACCELERATOR TO REDUCTION-MELTING FOR ELECTRIC FURNACE AND METHOD FOR OPERATING ELECTRIC FURNACE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a safe fuel instead of a fossil fuel, etc. which can retrain the consumption of global resources, i.e., a new accelerator to reduction-melting for electric furnace. SOLUTION: After alternately stacking scrap layers 51... and piece layers 52... consisting essentially of waste plastics having 8-40 mm one side or diameter in the electric furnace 50, the melting is started with an arc discharge. The piece consists essentially of the waste plastics, and the waste plastics contains rich carbon, and this carbon is joined with oxygen combined with an iron element in the scrap. As a result, the scrap can be reduced. Further, since the waste plastics is a good quality fuel containing rich carbon and hydrogen, a part of heat needed to the scrap melting, is provided. Particularly, in the range of easily becoming low temperature, the calorie of the piece is useful and this piece is contributed to the elimination of the low temperature zone.
