PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an aluminium-based building material which has autonomous humidity control function and a method for manufacturing it.;SOLUTION: The method is to produce an alumina-based building material which has good strength and the function to autonomously control humidity by forming a molded body by adding water glass as a solidification agent to aluminium hydroxide and calcining it. Also the method is to produce an alumina- based building material having autonomous humidity control function which can maintain water vapor absorption and emission function at a calcination temperature of 800-1150°C by forming a molded body by adding kaolin powder and water glass to aluminium hydroxide and calcining it. The method can produce a building material which has high strength and the function to autonomously control humidity without providing energy from an outside source by making use of capillary condensation phenomenon generated in fine pores of nanometer sizes.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2002,JPO
