PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device and a method for mail-order business for securing the cost with the best condition by including not only the cost of the object of sales but also distribution cost for a publisher-side and enlarging a stock distribution network for a bookstore and a general user.;SOLUTION: The retail condition of a book, which is transmitted from a publisher terminal 5, is received and is registered in a retail condition database 12. It is displayed on a bookstore terminal 7 through a communication network 3. A buying condition is received from the bookstore terminal 7 accessing the displayed retail condition and it is registered in a buying condition database 13. It is displayed with the retail condition, and the buying condition is received further. The bookstore terminal 7 registering buying cost satisfying the minimum sales price including distribution cost in a range to the number of books which are desired to be sold is made to win a bid. Data is converted into book data in the book using form of the bookstore terminal winning the bid so as to transfer it. When an auction terminates, a bidding result is informed to the bookstore terminal winning the bid and the publisher terminal.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2002,JPO
