PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To set up a rolling speed of a universal rolling mill with high accuracy, so as to prevent damage to equipment, and miss-rolling, and improve manufacturing efficiency.;SOLUTION: When a universal rolling for a section having a flange and a web is performed, a necessary torque for rolling is estimated and the rolling speed in the universal rolling is determined or amended in compliance with the necessary torque through functions coming from parameters based on a cross sectional area and dimension of the flange, deformation resistance of the flange, thickness draft of the flange, and the difference of thickness drafts of the flange and web.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2002,JPO
