PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method by which an activity change in an organism based on many stimulus functions is detected and an fMRI experiment is executed by means of many parallel stimulus functions properly correlated with the stimulus function which starts the change and a device for executing the method. SOLUTION: The method includes a process of stimulating a physiological process in the organism by means of stimulus functions fS1 (t), fS2 (t), and fSn (t) which are not in at least two correlational relations and intersect each other at right angles, a process of generating a temporally and positionally disintegrated nuclear resonance signal SMR (t) by means of a pulse sequence for exciting and reading out nuclear resonance signals, and a process of finding the cross correlation between the generated nuclear resonance signal SMR (t) and functions fS1 (t), fS2 (t), and fSn (t) and a correlation function forth (t) intersecting them at right angles. The method also includes a process of changing the correlation function forth (t) for detecting the activity change P (τ) in the organism based on the nonlinear coupling of at least two of the stimulus functions fS1 (t), fS2 (t), and fSn (t).
