METHOD FOR THE TREATMENT OF LARGE VESICOVAGINAL FISTULAS COMBINED WITH WRINKLED URINARY BLADDER

The method is used for the treatment of women cancer patients with primary or secondary fistula after an unsuccessful attempt at closing it. The surgical intervention lastingly stops any uncontrolled discharge of the urine through the vagina, the urinary bladder is converted to sufficient acceptable volume and function, the physiological discharge of the urine is restored through the uretra and conditions are set for adequate life of the patient. After opening of the urinary bladder by a section along its rear wall, the bladder is separated from the vagina in the region of the fistula only at 8-10 cm from its edge. Omentum is fixed to the hole of the vagina, and detubularized segment of ileum with preserved blood supply is fixed to the urinary bladder.
