"USES OF AN INHIBITOR OF THE SYNTHESIS OF GLYCOSYL CERAMIDE FOR THE MANUFACTURE OF A MEDICINAL PRODUCT, N-BUTYLDEOXINOJIRIMICINE, AND OF AN AGENT ABLE TO INCREASE THE RATE OF DEGRADATION OF NEURONAL GLYCOLIPYDE, AND, PRODUCT". The present invention relates to the treatment of conditions such as Niemann-Pick storage disease C, Alzheimer's disease, epilepsy, stroke and Parkinson's disease, and, in particular, the use of inhibitors of glycosylceramide synthesis in such treatment. Preferred inhibitors of glycosylcera-inide synthesis are structured imino sugars, and include N-butyloxynojirimicin (NB-DNJ), N-butyloxygalactonojirimicin (NB-DGJ) and N-nonildeoxinojirimicin (NNDNJ).
