"ACRYLIC POLYMER IN WATER EMULSION, WATER COATING COMPOSITION, AND, PROCESS TO IMPROVE DRY COATING RESISTANCE". an aqueous emulsion acrylic polymer is provided including, as copolymerized units, 70 to 99.5% by weight, based on the weight of the dry polymer, monoethylene unsaturated and non-ionic (meth) acrylic monomer and 0.3 to 10% in weight, based on the dry weight of polymer, of monoethylenically unsaturated acid monomer, where at least 40% by weight, based on the weight of dry polymer, of the emulsion polymer is formed by redox polymerization in the presence of 0.001 to 0.05 moles of chain transfer agent per kg of dry polymer weight. An aqueous coating composition including the acrylic emulsion polymer and a process for improving the rub resistance of a dry coating are also provided, which includes applying the aqueous coating composition to a substrate; and drying or allowing this aqueous coating composition to dry.
