"POLYMERIZATION PROCESS TO PRODUCE POLYOLEFINE ELASTOMER, COCATALISER, CATION GENERATOR TO ACTIVATE A METALOCENE PROCATALISER, POLYOLEFINE ELASTOMER WITH A UNIQUE COMBINATION OF PROPERTIES AND PRODUCTS FROM MANUFACTURED PRODUCTS TO MANUFACTURED PRODUCTS. A polyolefin elastomer having a unique combination of properties, ie high molecular weight (M ~ w ~), high Mooney viscosity (ML ~ 1 + 4 ~ at 125 198 C), low polydispersity index (M ~ w ~ / M ~ n ~), low glass transition temperature (T ~ g ~) and low hysteresis (tan sym), is obtained by a polymerization process employing a specific type of metallocene catalyst. The polyolefin elastomer is useful for making a variety of products including rubber articles such as hoses, belts and moldings, polymer blends containing one or more other hydrocarbon polymers and lubricating oils in which the elastomer functions as a viscosity modifier. A cation-generating cocatalyst is also disclosed to activate a metallocene procatalyst, preferably in the presence of olefin monomer.
