This present invention provides a system for holding a dispensing valve (32), which includes a peripheral mounting flange (78) and which is operable to discharge the contents from the interior of a container (22). The retainer (34) has a resilient hinge (132) and a connecting member (130), which extends from the retainer hinge (132), and has an abutment surface (136). The hinges (82, 132) allow deflection of the protrusion (80) and the connecting member (130) as the protrusion (80) and the connecting member (130) move past each other and establish abutting connection of the protrusion (80) abutment surface (84) with the connecting member (130) abutment surface (136) as relative movement is effected between the body (30) and the retainer (34) so as to clamp the valve mounting flange (78) between the body seat (68) and the retainer seat (122).
