PROCESS FOR TREATMENT OF WET PINEWOODS OR OTHER WOODS, FIRST FOR PURPOSE OF REDUCING THE WATER CONTENT AND PRESERVING

The proposal is concerned with timber with a moisture content above 30%. The timber is first immersed in a bath at 80-120 degrees C. for 60-180 minutes. The temperature is increased in stages. The bath is made up of wax or a mixture of wax and paraffin oil in the desired proportions and also containing 0.05-5% by mass of colloidal silicon dioxide. Next the timber is treated with an aqueous solution of 15-45% by mass of sodium silicate (Na2SiO3) or potassium silicate (K2SiO3) or a mixture of these in the desired proportions with 85-55% by mass of wax or a mixture of paraffin and paraffin oil. In some cases the timber is kept in a mixture containing 1-8% by mass of additive at a temperature between the softening point of wax and 70 degrees C. for 20-30 minutes. Finally the surface of the timber is freed of wax and stored at temperature of 20-25 degrees C.
