The folding skate unit (1) comprises a shoe or boot fixture part (2) and a lower part (3) provided with an accommodation space for a skate blade or roller skate wheels. The shoe or boot fixture is fixed by a hinge (6) at the front part to the lower part. In the footwear fixture part elasticaally compressible tension devices (14,15,16) are accommodated in order to force the footwear fixture part towards the lower part. The tension devices are compressible in a direction parallel to the accommodation space for a skate blade or roller skate wheels when the folding skate unit is folded inwards.
