The vehicle (10) is lowered and raised using a frame (13) hung from a platform outrigger (17) and cable guide (18) and provided with a hydraulic or pneumatic control unit. The vehicle has a low profile and moves using independently adjusted side-mounted worm rollers (20). The material is removed by excavation rollers (24,25) via suction chambers (33) to a pump (40) which discharges through a flexible line (15) to reception facilities above the water surface.
