Earth polluted with asbestos cement is passed through successive stages of sifting through cylindrical seives of progressively finer mesh. Larger chunks of debris, including asbestos cement, are removed from moving belts manually by suitable protected operatives. The mobile installation is used on-site within an enclosure kept below atmospheric pressure.
