A large number of vehicles are provided with on-board identification devices to enable them to be automatically identified by reading devices at parking places for individual or public use. A computer system comprising one or more computers is connected to the reading devices and coupled to a transmission/receiving device, such as a mobile phone, used to send a parking place reservation request by a vehicle user and to allocate a reserved parking place to this user. Independent claims are also included for (1) a parking place reservation and assignment method utilizing this system, (2) a method for reserving a chargeable parking place for a vehicle on a public road, where the vehicle is provided with an identification device and a transmission/receiving device is used to contact a reservation system in order to establish whether a parking space is free and how much it will cost, (3) a method for reserving a place in a transport system, where a traveller and/or vehicle is provided with an identification device, the traveller uses a transmission/receiving device to make a reservation request prior to leaving a given location for the chosen destination, a parking place or a seat on a train, bus or airplane is reserved, and the traveller uses the identification device to enable payment to be made automatically, (4) a method for reserving accommodation, where a traveller uses a transmission/receiving device to make a reservation request for a given period of time, optionally automatically in combination with a request for parking, mobility or other surfaces offered by the accommodation provider, and (5) a method for making an integrated mobility request using any one of methods (b)-(d).
