The toilet installation comprises a basin (2) and a cistern (3) connected to each other by a flushing pipe (4), inn which is a T-shaped connecting piece (5). A discharge pipe (6) is in open connection with the interior of the flushing pipe. The discharge pipe runs upwards away from the connecting piece to a fan (7). The discharge pipe runs upwards away from the connecting piece so that when no water flows through the flushing pipe the discharge pipe is in open air connection with the interior of the toilet basin. The fann is activated in different ways, an infrared detector (8) is used to ascertain whether anyone is using the toilet installation. As soon as the light bunch (9) is interrupted, this is picked up by the detector which sends signal to the fan in order to activate it.
