The coupling mechanism (4) for securing the harness (3) to a beam or girder (1) comprises two U-shaped brackets (7) which face each other and are fixed around the free edges (8) of the beam or girder flanges (2), and a connection (9) between the two brackets for holding them together. Each bracket is connected to the harness rope (6, 6). An Independent claim is also included for a method for preventing falls from an elevated construction using this harness.
