The heart valve prosthesis (1) has a through passage with a wall at least partly formed by flexible valve components with free outer ends and movable radially for opening and closing the through passage. A first stiffening ring (4) is concentrically connected with the through passage at an input side of the heart valve and is made of a flexible, elastic material. A second such ring (5) is connected with the through passage at an output side of the heart valve. Stiffening ribs (7A) extend from the first stiffening ring in an axial direction between membranes. They are directly, elastically connected with the first stiffening ring. In an unloaded state they extend radially outwards. They are also directly, elastically connected with the second stiffening ring. The two rings are made of crossways woven bio-compatible thread.
