The cover (1) comprises a rectangular piece of textile fabric which is turned back and stitched (6) at the head end (5), in order to enclose a first elastic band (7) used to secure the cover to a beach chair etc. A second elastic band (10) is secured at both ends (11, 12) to the foot end of the cover. A piece of fabric (8) is stitched onto the cover close to the head end to form an envelope for receiving a pillow. The length (L) and width (B) of the cover are chosen so that it is economical to cut it from a roll of textile material.
