The panel (10, 10a, 10b) has a first coupling part (40) on one side (11) which can cooperate with a second coupling part (45) on the other side (12), enabling two identical panels to be connected together, whilst preventing any movement between the panels in the direction parallel to these two sides. The panel has at least two opposing sides extending substantially parallel to each other and includes a mechanism for fastening it to a support construction behind it. Independent claims are also included for (a) a wall cladding system comprising these panels and fastener channels (25) used to form the support construction for them, (b) a method for cladding a surface using these panels, in which the sides of adjoining panels are positioned a distance apart, one side of a panel (10b) is engaged with the opposing side of a panel (10a) before it and an opposing side of the following panel (10b) is secured to fastener channel, and (c) a method for cladding a surface using fastener channels and cladding panels, in which the channels are secured to a surface and arranged parallel to each other, the panels are fitted between pairs of channels so that the sides of successive panels extend at right angles to the channel length direction and are positioned at a distance from each other, and one side is secured to the panel before it and an opposing side is secured to a channel.
