The control device for a closure valve in a vacuum irrigation conduit (1,2) for an irrigation reservoir involves the valve movable by operating device between a first closed position where the water collected in the reservoir is below a specific maximum level and second open position in which the water is at least at the maximum level. The control device has components for determining the position of the closure valve, components for determining the level of the water in the reservoir and processing devices. The processing devices process input signals generated by the position determining components and by those for determination of water level. Dependent upon the input signals a control signal is generated to the operating devices for movement of the closure valve. The signal processing devices generate a warning signal dependent upon the generated input signals. The vacuum irrigation conduit has branches (3), to which are connected separate irrigation wells (4). A pumping station (5) is also incorporated.
