Medical compositions for dressing wounds are described. It comprises a combination of one or more honeys (at least 50% w/w) with one or more gelling agents, wherein the amount of gelling agent in the composition is such that the resulting composition is in the form of a farmable and/or spreadable solid that can be readily moulded to fit the wound to which it is applied. The compositions range from ointments and salves through to pliable or flexible sheets which can be used as a wound covering.
