A litter trap for a drain comprising an enclosure having a base, side walls, and a removable cover, a drain water inlet and exit above the base of the trap, the trap being divided by a weir into a first sediment collecting compartment and a second compartment that contains a sub-trap for collection of floating material, the two compartments facilitating high volume water transfer in extreme situations and being accessible form the removable top to facilitate collection of filtered media.
