This invention relates to a device for supporting railway rails (1) of the type that are carried on space-apart, transverse sleepers (3) formed with upwardly/inwardly inclined sides (7), and are attached thereon by means of rail fastenings (5), and which have joints (2) in the area of nearby sleepers. The device comprises a support (8) formed with inclined end surfaces (8') which with said end surfaces is arranged to abut against the inclined sides on nearby sleepers (3), and which co-operates with units (9, 12, 5, 5', 5'', 11) for clamping the sleepers (3) against the support, the inclination of the end surfaces of the support and the sides of the sleepers providing a pressing of the support in close contact in the direction upwards against the bottom side of the rail.
